Ideal Plants For Bettas

This is a working progress at the moment but I am adding bits here and there as they become ready for sale.

I will be growing these plants in snail free tanks so you can rest asured you will get no infestation from me :)

Moss Balls

Moss balls are native to Japanese lakes and are so sought after that they have become a protected species. They have subsequently become a national treasure of Japan.

They are not only beautiful, but also help to reduce algae growing in the aquarium. Algae requires nutrients to grow, particularly phosphates and nitrates, Moss balls use these nutrients in the aquarium thus starving nusciance algae and reducing its growth.

Moss balls can grow to a maximum size of 12 inches in diameter but they are fairly slow growing unless given strong lighting and CO2.

Moss balls do not need any specialist care. They prefer moderate to bright light levels. Simply place your moss ball in the aquarium (do not push it into the gravel). It may float at first but give it a gentle squeeze to get some of the air out and it should sink.

This has to be one of the easiest, low maintenance, useful and beautiful aquarium plants and most bettas do love them. They enjoy resting on them and picking through them plus they go with any tank decor you may have.

These plants are also fairly easy to propogate. All you need to do is, once the plant has grown larger (like the one in the third picture down), spit it into two and reshape into balls. You can also flatten it out and tie to bogwood to grow a mat of moss.

I am selling moss balls approximately the same size as the one pictured next to the penny. I can guarentee that my moss balls are free of snails and any bactiria that would be harmful to your fish.
