 This food has been extensively tested and is the easy way to raise your fry. Fish raised with a combination of Betta Starter for the first month and Betta PRO after that have out performed any other feeding regimes in terms of survival rate of the fry and size of the adult Betta. However i do still use micro worms and BBS with this.

The Betta starter comes in a nice box containing a small bottle with 12g of larval fish diet, a small spoon and a clear instruction on how to breed Bettas using Ocean Nutrition products.

ATISONS BETTA PRO

Atison's Betta Pro is the perfect replacement of live food.

Ideal for the growth and conditioning of the Betta Fish. This food is a totally new concept and cannot be compared with any existing pellet food. Bettas love it!

This food is intended for use by Betta breeders—both the serious hobbyist and the professionals. It is safer, more reliable, less messy and cheaper than live food and is of course easier to store and handle. Used for conditioning before breeding and for growth of the fry at 2+ months of age.

The pellets float and will not cloud the water if uneaten (though any food still on the water after 5mins should be removed from the tank). Its natural attractants means that its accepted easier by the betta than any other food. Its also great for helping to enhance the natural colour of your betta and causes your betta to be more alert and responsive.

MICRO WORMS

Micro worms are an excellent live food for fish fry and are very easy to raise. They can be seen moving on the surface of the culture media.  As they culture develops more they will start to cover the sides of your tub.

HOW:

• You will need a waterproof container with a lid (an ice cream tub for example).  The worms need to breathe, so if the lid is airtight make some small holes.

• Mix up some porridge oats with warm water until you have a firm sticky substance (make sure its not runny). Spread this out over the bottom of your container at about an inch thick.

• Add a pinch or so of dry active yeast to the top of the oat mix. Your worms will feed off of this. 
  
• Spread your micro worm starter over the top of the culture medium.

• Within 3 – 5 days you will see the worms climbing up the sides of the container.  To feed them to you fry, simply wipe them off and swish them into the tank, a small paint brush is good for this. Be careful not to overfeed as they will contaminate the water.

Antibacterial Fish Remedy
Melafix is an all natural product containing Extract of Tea Tree. It is used for the treatment of Damaged Fins, Fin and Tail Rot, Ulcers, Open Sores, Cloudy Eye, Pop Eye, Body Slime, Mouth Fungus and other similar ailments.

 EPSOM SALTS

Not your usual type of fish medication but a good one to have around for your betta.

Bettas are prone to dropsy due to the lack of filtration in their tanks. One of the symptoms of Dropsy is the build up of fluids within the body causing the fish to "Pine Cone". What epsom salts does is help to release the fluids and bring down the swelling stopping damage being done internally.

This is not a cure for Dropsy, just an aid. Its est to seperate the fish while treating it.

Dosage is 1/4 - 1/2 of a teaspoon per 5 gallons of water. If you are doing a twice daily salt bath then the dosage is 1/8 to 1/4 of a teaspoon per gallon. The fish is to stay in the bath for a maximum of 30 minutes.

WATERLIFE
MYXAZIN

Myxazin is a bactericide that treats Fin Rot, Ulcers, Cloudy Eye, Pop Eye, Raised Veins and other bacterial infections.

Myxazin can also be used when introducing new fish to reduce the risk of spreading desiese.

This is another treatment that i would never go without and do sometimes use this in combination with Melafix

 Everflex Aqua Mate Sealent is a premium grade aquarium silicone that is fungicideal and solvent free. Aqua Mate can be used for all sealing applications in aquaria and ponds. It forms a waterproof seal which will withstand continuouse water immersion which means its perfect for fixing chips and breaks or even building your own tanks.

Aquamate sticks best to Glass, UPVC and Aluminium plus its quick curing which is always a bonus.

 BLACKWATER TEABAGS

You need 1 tea bag per every 200ml of water you use.

HOW TO:
Boil up your water in a kettle or saucepan then pour into a container (a glass bowl does the job) then add your
teabag(s) to it. Let it stand, over night is best, but 2 - 3 hours will do. Squeeze out and remove the teabags and pour into a sealable bottle (I use a 2ltr coke bottle). This will then last 3 weeks if not used.

HOW MUCH:
General Use: As it turns your water brown you only want to use a small amount for general use. I use 2ml per ltr.
Sick Fish: For sick fish you need more in the water to help fight the problem. 6ml per Ltr is the minimum I would use.
For Spawning: When conditioning my pairs for spawning I add 6ml per Ltr to both tanks. In the spawning tank I use 4ml per ltr, you can lessen this if using IAL.
Please Note: these are only guidelines

WHY:
Black water is well known for its "special" qualities. It is used in all Betta Farms and is proven to improve the quality and health of your fish. These teabags mainly consist of IAL which is found in a bettas natural habitat. Its benificial uses are as follows

• acts as a tonic
• enhances fertility
• reduces water pH
• anti-fungal properties
• anti-bacterial properties
• promotes vibrant colorations
• can help reduce the number of water changes

WHAT YOU GET:
For £3 you get a packet of 10 tea bags, enough to do 2,000ml (2Ltrs) of black water, which is cheaper and far more than you can buy from shops in a bottle. These teabags are also free from the preserves and additives that you find in the bottled product, and you can also use salt and medicate wih them if ever you need to.

Submersible 300l/h filter with adjustable spray bar which helps to oxegenate the water and reduce the water movement in the tank.

This filter is excellent for Betta tanks when used with the spray bar as the flow is minimal enough not to stress them out but you still get great filtration. However its a very poweful pump and can easily filter a 50ltr tank if used without the spray bar atachment.

It comes with an aeration nozzle to create bubbles and increase the oxygen level of the water being pumped back into the tank (when used without spray bar).

The sponge in the filter is easily removeable for cleaning or replacing.

Suction cups on the back of the filter secure it firmly to the glass.

SPONGE FILTERS

 Sponge filters are the most popular type of filter for bettas as they create hardly any water disturbence at all.

A single sponge filter is all well and good for a single tank but what about split tanks?

I have been making sponge filters for my tanks for years now and have a method that I really like, I now want to offer that to you by being able to provide you with a kit that taylor made for you and your fishes needs.
